Sacred Heart primary is a Roman Catholic school which is located in the Orbiston area of Bellshill. Children aged between four and 12 years are educated in the school. Our nursery class opened in January 2002, is staffed by a nursery teacher and nursery nurse and takes children from three years old. There are 20 morning places and 20 afternoon places and the nursery is working at full capacity. |
| Every effort is made to impress upon the pupils that, as well as being members of the school community, they are also members of the local community. Pupils are encouraged to be sympathetic to the needs of others. Over the years pupils have contributed generously to various charities, local and international. |

Extra-curricular activities vary from year to year. Out of hours learning is run to continue to raise achievement for pupils, seven, ' Out of Hours Learning' opportunities have been given to the pupils this year.
These are street dance, music making with ICT, stained glass window designing, percussion, arts and crafts, modrock/clay modelling and sewing.
As pupils progress through the school parents and teachers are actively encouraged to share information and skills to support the child's educational progress. The foyer display provides general information regarding PTA and school board minutes and copies of school newsletters. The school has an active PTA who issue regular notices regarding fund raising events and social occasions. The PTA have raised money to support the life of the school. Sacred Heart school board hopes to work with the school and the PTA to promote the life of the school in the community.
Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Sacred Heart primary normally transfer to Cardinal Newman High School.
