Plains Primary School is a non-denominational, co-educational school, situated in the village of Plains, Airdrie. The school relocated to this new building in November 2007 and share the campus with St David's Primary School. |

The school itself is of open plan design, which means that classes work in bases. In the centre of the school there are several areas that we share in the joint campus such as the dining hall, gym hall, audio-visual room, music room and library. In the school grounds we have an astro turf football pitch. |

We foster an ethos and culture in which all pupils, staff, parents and members of the wider community feel that they are valued as individuals and enable our young people to become confident individuals, successful learners, responsible citizens and effective contributors to society. Our aim is to create a culture of high achievement and caring. Pupils are encouraged to develop a sense of responsibility and to respond positively to the challenges they meet.
Currently pupils are organised into four composite classes eg P1 and P2 and are subject to a maximum of 25 pupils in each class.
The school offers a wide variety of after school clubs e.g. football, ICT, music, netball, etc.
Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Plains primary normally transfer to Caldervale High School, Towers Road, Airdrie.
