Situated in Airdrie, Petersburn primary is a co-educational, non-denominational school. The stages covered are primary one to primary seven and the nursery has places for 30 pupils in the morning and 30 pupils in the afternoon. At present we have eight teaching staff, one nursery teacher and two nursery nurses, as well as a number of support staff. |
| Facilities are available for a variety of extra-curricular activities – eg sports clubs etc, and pupils are encouraged to join these. The school is grateful to parents and staff who help with these groups. Football takes place twice weekly for pupils in primary four and five and six and seven. Art club is for primary three, netball club is for pupils in primary five to seven and drama club is for primary four and five. |

Generally classes are organised in primary stages, P1 to P7. However depending on numbers at each stage and the total roll of the school, it is sometimes necessary to form composite classes.
Parents, families and friends from our community are encouraged to take part in the life of the school through activities organised by the PTA, by attending school assemblies and by taking part in classes organised by our home link worker.
Petersburn primary enjoys strong links with the local community and various organisations make use of the gym and assembly hall for various groups and clubs.
Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Petersburn primary normally transfer to Caldervale High School, Airdrie.
