Overtown primary is a non-denominational co-educational school. Classes range from primary one to primary seven. At present we have 11 teaching staff, two office staff, two classroom assistants, one SEN auxiliary, one janitor, three kitchen staff and two cleaning staff. |
| The school accommodation consists of seven classrooms, one main hall, dining hall with gym facilities and a kitchen. Various services and agencies visit the school on a regular basis during school time to aid school and community liaison – ie police, road safety etc, health visitors, anti-litter campaign team, school chaplain and any other person and group who assists with the well-being of the children in our care. |

The school offers a range of sporting activities such as, football, school sports events and inter-schools sports, swimming and inter-schools swimming gala take place throughout the year. As the school does not have its own sports field, use is made of facilities at Clyde Valley High school. Several activities take place after school. These clubs can only be run if enough parents/friends of the school offer their services. Fortunately, at present we are able to offer cross country and orienteering, football, gardening, art, origami and computing.
At Overtown primary there is an "open door" invitation for parents to visit the school to discuss any problems or point of information. Regular newsletters are sent to parents to keep them up to date with school information and news. An informal open evening is held during the first term. Parents help in practical ways within the school during school hours. This help is greatly appreciated. The school also takes an interest in the community as a whole and as well as working with the church we liase with the local playgroup and attempt to keep up to date with any local events, projects etc.
Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Overtown primary normally transfer to Clyde Valley High, Wishaw.
