Netherton primary school is a non-denominational, co-educational school covering stages primary one to seven. At present there are six classes including three composite class ie split stages, for example, primary four and five. The school has eight full time teaching staff, and a number of support staff. |
| At Netherton primary we take part in the local football festivals and have taken up opportunities to buy in some extra curricular activities for our senior pupils. We would welcome any parent or friend who had any expertise which they could share with our children. Interested parties should contact the head teacher. Our primary seven pupils have had opportunities to attend New Opportunities Fund colleges after school for swimming, art and music. |

We try to forge links between school and home for the benefit of the children. We provide an induction programme for pupils at P1, which involves parents. We provide homework and feedback on progress and work closely with individual pupils and their parents where appropriate. Our school board and PTA provide links for parents with the work of the school and we encourage parent helpers. We provide regular newsletters and communicate through the children by letter as required. Parents are invited at several points during the year to join us from special events. We are always open to good ideas to improve our home and school links.
We see ourselves as an integral part of the community and encourage our children to become involved in the wider area. We have begun to forge links with Netherton Home and we are already closely linked with Castlehill Church and its associations. Through our new uniform we have made close links with National Schoolwear who support the school in many ways. Many local businesses have supported our ventures in the past and we are keen to widen our horizons. We have had substantial improvement to the immediate surroundings to the school and we hope that this improves the environment for the whole community. Our children are encouraged to be active and responsible citizens of the community and beyond.
Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Netherton primary normally transfer to Clyde Valley High, Wishaw.
