We at Lammermoor are fortunate in having extensive playing fields, which provide excellent facilities for sports days, football etc. Our football team trains on a weekly basis and participates in local tournaments. We also have a "mini bridge" club, open to primary five, primary six and primary seven pupils. Our primary seven pupils have the opportunity to participate in activities such as athletics, gymnastics, choir and swimming instruction. This session we hope to establish a badminton club for our senior pupils. From time to time Scottish Opera visits the school and this provides a wealth of opportunity for our junior and senior pupils to participate in a school production. Throughout the school year, parents are invited to join us for other events eg end of term assemblies, sports days, gymnastics displays, fund raising activities. All pupils P1 to P7 participate in school concerts. Our primary seven pupils have the opportunity to participate in Outward Bound Residential Education courses at Kilbowie, Oban. Children in the senior school have the opportunity to participate in the Out of School Learning programme. This includes gymnastics, athletics and choral singing.
Our pre school liaison policy encourages early partnership between home and school from this initial contact we establish our links throughout the school. Partnership with parents is encouraged and welcomed. Parents are invited to help with a variety of class activities eg making of resources, art and craft activities, school concerts, parties, outings etc. In school, we enjoy the support of a parent support worker. The support worker works in school supporting a variety of initiatives eg story sacks in primary one, family fun bags in our nursery.
The school enjoys a good reputation in the local community. The children receive regular visits from the police officers, school nurse, dental hygienist, and safety officer etc. Invitations are also extended to members of the local community to join us in fund raising activities and we appreciate excellent support from local businesses. Throughout the school session the children participate in local competitions and enjoy good success. Throughout the school year, the children contribute to a variety of charities such as St Andrew's Hospice, National Children's Homes, Rwanda Appeal etc.
Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Lammermoor primary normally transfer to Coltness High School.
