Knowetop Primary

Knowetop Primary school badge Knowetop primary is a non-denominational, co-educational primary school. The stages covered are primary one to primary seven. The maximum capacity of the school is 540 pupils. The school accommodation consists of 18 classrooms, one main hall with gym facilities, an extension with four class areas and the Big K Café.

The many extra-curricular activities available within the school include, badminton, choir, netball, swimming, football, cross-country, athletics, rugby, chess and tuition in brass and woodwind instruments. The wide range of activities is possible because of the help given by parents and friends of the school. We also have access to Motherwell Football Club's training pitch. Every encouragement is given to foster a good home and school relationship. There is an "open door" invitation for parents to visit the school to discuss any problems or points of information. Parental involvement is very welcome especially help that can be given working at pupil activities in the open areas. In the summer term prior to entry to school at P1 stage, parents and children are invited to school for afternoon visits. Where possible the children will be in the classroom which they will enter in August and meet their teacher.

Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 years so that they have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Knowetop primary normally transfer to Dalziel High, Motherwell.
