We were established in 1907 as a co-educational primary school to serve the educational needs of the pupils of Mossend. The school is an open welled three storey traditional building which comprises of 10 classrooms, a gym hall, dining room, resource room, structured play room and a recently refurbished school library. |
| We are staffed by 11 full time and two part time teachers and have six support staff. We are well resourced and provide a well balanced and varied curriculum. The attainment of the pupils in reading, writing and mathematics is good. Out of hours learning activities are varied and change on an annual basis to suit the needs and interests of the pupils. |

There is a pupil council who make a worthwhile contribution to the running of the school and meet with the head teacher on a weekly basis. We also have an active school board and PTA and work in close partnership with the Parish of Holy Family. Links have been developed with the wider community of Mossend, especially with Hattonlea nursing home where the residents look forward to the planned visits from the senior pupils.
Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Holy Family primary normally transfer to Cardinal Newman High School.
