Coltness primary is a non-denominational, co-educational primary school teaching children from primary one to primary seven. The school was built in 1965 and has a ground floor, which contains an office suite, medical suite, gym hall, general purpose room and four classrooms. |
There are three other floors each with four classrooms. Eight are used as classrooms, two are used by the nursery and the rest have been made into a central library, computer room, food technology room, music room, art and TV room and a small group teaching room. |
Our primary six and seven boys and girls take part in all North Lanarkshire football festivals. They have football practise on a Thursday after 3pm, taken by the local BB officer and the janitor. The badminton class is held on a Monday, and a netball class is held on a Tuesday.
Children normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11 and 12, so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Coltness primary normally transfer to Coltness High.
