A football pitch is adjacent to the school and Wishaw sports centre is within walking distance.
Castlehill Primary School Aims
In Castlehill we aim to work together as a community, to achieve the following goals:
- Provide a varied and balanced curriculum
- Raise standards by setting targets in learning and teaching and attainment
- Create a purposeful, friendly and challenging environment that includes all pupils
- Empower our children by enabling them to recognise their own and others achievements and celebrate success
The aims we have mentioned remain unobtainable without the closest co-operation between parents and teachers.
At Castlehill Primary there is an "open door" invitation for parents to visit the school to discuss any problems or point of information.
Every effort is made to provide strong links between the home and the school. It is this strong partnership that results in a successful school career. Regular newsletters are sent home to the parents of every pupil and contain useful information about the life of the school in curricular and extra-curricular areas, and provide advance notice of important events such as parents meetings and in-service days.
We welcome parents in to see the school, to talk about their children, to share experiences with us, and to join in our many events, eg Health Promoting School Week, Walk to School Week, Sports Day etc.
We encourage parents to become Parent Helpers to support learning and teaching within all sectors of the school.
A Parents & Friends of Castlehill Primary School Fundraising Group help fund raise to allow children to go on outings, have theatre companies visit the school etc. They also help fundraise for the Going for Gold awards.
A recently established Parent Council are active in the life of the school. They meet on the first Wednesday of every month in the school at 7.00pm
Pupils normally transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils from Castlehill primary normally transfer to Clyde Valley High School.
