Banton primary school is a small, rural school servicing the villages of Banton and Kelvinhead. Banton is a co-educational, non-denominational school which caters for all children from primary one to primary seven. |
| The classes are divided up into three composite groups: primary one, two and three, primary four and five and primary six and seven. The present school was built in 1966 and is an attractive, one storey building set in generous grounds. |

The school plays an integral part in the life of the village and the community. We take part in the annual flower show and we organise the Earl Haig Fund collection around the village as well as contributing to various other charities. We hold concerts to which all members of the community are invited. Our annual Christmas production is a village "event" and is usually a sell out. We invite local OAPs into school to strengthen the link between young and old. We value them as a resource to help with certain projects eg World War two when we can tap into their memories of that time. We distribute Harvest gifts to every OAP in Banton and Kelvinhead after our Harvest Festival Service in September. Later in the year, we deliver "home made" Christmas cards to all OAPs in the villages of Banton and Kelvinhead.
Children usually transfer from primary to secondary between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 years. Pupils from Banton primary usually transfer to Kilsyth Academy.
