Aitkenhead Primary

Seven classes are formed with a member of staff having responsibility for support for learning and another for curricular enrichment.  The school is well supported by the janitor, two clerical assistants and three classroom assistants. There are two cleaning assistants and two catering staff.

Parents play an important role in the life of the school. The school recognises the benefits from open and regular communication between staff and parents. We are keen to have parents, grandparents and relatives in the building to provide a sense of audience for the children and enjoy the finished product of such things as project displays, plays, baking, assemblies and musical events. The community gives to the school and the children should realise this must be a two way process. Through such close links we hope to build a sense of pride and responsibility in the pupils towards their immediate environment.

Pupils normally transfer to secondary school between the ages of 11.5 and 12.5 so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least four years of secondary education. Pupils normally transfer from Aitkenhead primary to Uddingston Grammar.
