St Patrick's Nursery School

Situated in the Royal Burgh of Kilsyth, the nursery accommodates a wing of St Patrick's primary school. Although the building is shared, the nursery is a totally independent establishment with its own entrance and outside play area.

The nursery comprises of four spacious play rooms, toilets, parents room, cloakroom areas, staff room and office. The surroundings of our establishment enable children to explore the world outside within a safe natural setting.

Children are accommodated within the 3-5 age range and attendance is on a morning or afternoon basis with 60 children in the morning and 60 in the afternoon. The nursery is open from 8.30am to 4.30pm. Children attend on a sessional basis either mornings from 8.30am to 12 noon or afternoons from 1pm to 4.30pm.  There is no facility for full-time provision. 

The nursery is staffed by a head teacher, a nursery teacher, five early years and a SEN auxiliary and two clerical assistants.

The nursery staff work in partnership with parents in developing children's learning.

The children's learning, learning environment and play experiences are reflective of curricular guidelines - "A curricular framework for children 3-5 years". Learning opportunities promote development in the five key aspects of learning:

• emotional, personal & social
• communication & language
• knowledge & understanding of the world
• expressive & aesthetic
• physical development & movement

Application forms can be collected from any establishment with nursery provision or can be downloaded from the early years section of this website. Application forms contain contact details of all establishments in North Lanarkshire which offer pre-school education.
