Laburnum Nursery Centre

Laburnum Nursery Centre opened in May 2006 as part of North Lanarkshire Council's PPP project.  The nursery brings to the community of Viewpark fantastic state of the art facilities for children from birth to 5 years.  We are open 52 weeks of the year providing a flexible service to young children and their families.  The nursery can accommodate 96 children at any one time within our 3 playrooms:

Bumble Bee Room- 0-2 Years

Rainbow Room- 2-3 Years

Daisy Room- 3-5 Years

Within the nursery we aim to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment where everyone feels happy, encouraged and valued.  In each of our playrooms we observe the children at play, consult with them and then plan a wide range of experiences and opportunities both indoors and out to meet their individual needs and interests.  Within the Bumble Bee and Rainbow Rooms we follow the guidance of the Effective Early Development and Learning Document and within the Daisy Room we follow the guidance of the Curriculum Framework for children aged 3-5 years.

Our staff team consists of:

Head of Centre

Depute Head of Centre

Senior Early Years Worker

15 Early Years Workers

2 Clerical Assistants

We have established very good links in the community with our local primary schools, health team, social work department and sure start.  These links are developing well, we now have 2 sure start workers who we are working in partnership with and we are holding joint events with John Paul 11 Primary School with whom we share a campus.  We also have a successful transition programme in place with all of our local primary schools ensuring a smooth transition when the children move to primary school.

We value the importance of working in partnership with parents and aim to achieve this through daily working & communication, parental consultations, our parents support group, courses for parents, open evenings and parents active participation within our centre.
