All our staff are qualified to HNC standard or equivalent.  The head of centre is responsible for all aspects of the nursery service and curriculum and the depute has responsibility for the management of the curriculum in the Rainbow Room.  Our eight nursery officers are responsible for implementing the curriculum and also act as keyworkers to a specific group of children and their families.  Our two clerical assistants are responsible for all administration tasks and our caretakers/cleaners keep the building safe and clean and monitor all deliveries and maintenance work.  Our community education staff helps us to involve parents in their children's learning and in adult education classes and our link social worker helps us to maintain good links with the social work department and is available to give parents advice and guidance.  We also have an SEN auxiliary worker, a dental health educator and a speech and language therapist.  We all work together, sharing skills, information, ideas, opinions and time, to make sure that we build a good team which can achieve our nursery aim.

The nursery has a main cloakroom, a foyer and an office where the head of centre, depute head of centre and clerical staff are based.  We have a Rainbow Room which is the play room for 3-5 year old children where we can have 56 children and seven members of staff. The Star room is the play room for 2-3 year old children where we have 10 children and two members of staff.  There is also a cosy corner which is our quiet room and an activities room.  Children also have access to the outdoor area where children participate in many learning opportunities.  The main entrance door to the nursery is a controlled entry system.

Our nursery aims are:

  • In Bellshill nursery centre we will work as a team, participating with parents in the management of our centre, to create a safe, welcoming and attractive environment with effectively used resources and a welcoming ethos.
  • We will support children in their development and learning through the provision of a balanced and stimulating curriculum which involves parents and meets individual needs.  We will work closely with external agencies and the local/wider community.  We will share ideas and skills and use available support and training to achieve this aim.
