Walk to School Week

There are two Walk to School Weeks in the school year. The first is in May and the second is in October.

These are designed to encourage parents to walk to school with their children rather than the usual method of driving them in the car.

All North Lanarkshire schools are invited to take part in these events and various items of promotional literature are available. North Lanarkshire Health Board supports the exercise by providing financial support to schools who submit the best plans for promoting the Walk to School Week.

Dates for 2006 are confirmed as:

• National Walk to School Week: Monday 22 to Friday 26 May

• International Walk to School Week: Monday 2 to Friday 6 October

There will be a big push to encourage all primaries and NLC nurseries to take part in the 2006 events.
