Standards and quality report 2004-2005 - welcome

Welcome to our eighth annual standards and quality report, which outlines the first year of the new four year service improvement plan cycle for 2004-2008.

In the past, each round of improvement planning lasted three years, but to be consistent with the council's corporate planning, we have extended this to four.

The report highlights our commitment to continuous improvement and the hard work of our pupils, staff, parents and community in supporting 'Raising Achievement for All' during the session August 2004 to June 2005. It also looks forward to 2005-2006 and outlines some important areas for development.

This year, Her Majesty's Inspectors of Education (HMIE) returned for their follow-up inspection. They highlighted some of our key achievements over the last two years which they highlighted were:

  • Inclusion strategy and programmes;
  • Work with looked after and accommodated children;
  • Improving school accommodation.

We have included their very positive feedback in this report.

To make our services and reporting better, we welcome feedback and look forward to hearing your comments. If you wish to comment or want further information, please use the 'Contact Us' box on the right hand side of the page.

We will make this report available widely by making use of ethnic language interpretation, summaries and by giving all our schools and nurseries at least two copies of the full report and the e-quality report.
