We asked our Catering Managers what was enjoyed best for lunch and the most popular choices were

  • 1st place – Chicken Curry
  • 2nd place – Ham and Cheese Panini

Customer satisfaction level in schools form April to September was 98%.

The uptake pf schoole meal had increased from 37% in 1999 to 40% in 2007 in Primary Schools and from 33% in 1999 to 47% in 2007 for Secondary Schools.

Below is an example of the information we put on our noticeboards on how we are performing in achieving our service standards pledge, value for money and uptake of healthy meals in schools.

Complaints and Comments

We regularly take comments from pupils and teachers on how good the school dinner service is. The table on the right shows us that nearly all (98%) said they though we provided good or very good value for money.

Health Awareness Days

There are healthy eating days going on in schools around North Lanarkshire to get more kids to eat healthily.

Watch out for all the healthy choides on your school menu!. If you have any ideas on helathy food you would like in your school then tell the Catering Manager.

Mystery Visits to School Dining Halls

This information is given to us by your Pupli Council to help us make sure we are keeping our promise to you from our Service Standard Pledge.

A Mystery Visit is when we ask a pupil to tell us about school dinner service.  We ask things like "is the menu on display?" and "is there a healthy food choice available?"

Action Points

  1. Approximately 50% of the comments were positive.
  2. The majority of critical comments from pupils are due 
    to the reduction of unhealthy snacks from the menu eg. chips
  3. The new 'Hungry for Success' menus are currently being monitored to ensure the required nutrient standards are provided to pupils on a daily basis.
  4. Catering School Meals Service will try to offer healthy balanced menus whilst listening to pupils and their preferences.
