| Kilbowie residential education outdoor centre is based just outside Oban, Argyll. Kilbowie aims to provide high quality, adventurous activities, in a superb environment. The emphasis of all our courses is: Safety, Enjoyment, and Learning. They are licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service, which operates on behalf of the Health and Safety Executive. This body ensures that all outdoor activity providers, who work with children, operate sound safety management systems. |

Kilbowie has accommodation for 100 students plus staff in small bedroom units, usually four to a room. There are eleven highly qualified instructors, twelve domestic staff, a clerical assistant and caretaker.
The centre runs Monday to Friday school courses, weekend courses and holiday courses. The centre is open all year round.

On the shores of the Sound of Kerrera to the South of Oban, Kilbowie is ideally situated for outdoor activities. Operated by North Lanarkshire Council's department of Learning and Leisure Services, the centre works mainly with the primary seven age group, and special education schools of the authority. |
Courses normally run from Monday to Friday or Friday to Sunday and include climbing, canoeing, gorge walking, coasteering, hill walking, dry slope skiing, sailing, power boating and orienteering. Problem solving, confidence and teambuilding exercises complete the range of activities.
As the Oban area is rich in geographical, historical and environmental interest, the emphasis is on see it, touch it, experience it, as you walk, canoe or sail through the landscape. The pupils are in a superb medium for education, enjoyment and the development of personal and social skills, in many cases just before they take the step up to secondary school. While North Lanarkshire schools are its main user, Kilbowie also provides National Governing Body award training, team building courses for workforces plus sessional activities for youth organisations and other groups, at weekends and non-term time. In addition to outdoor activites, art and music groups also use the facilities. You can also book Kilbowie to run your own course or conference. We provide the venue, accommodation and catering to suit requirements.
