The Council proposes to close Burnhead Primary School and transfer its pupils to Tannochside Primary in a new-build non-denominational primary school with a design capacity for 560 pupils. In addition, the accommodation will include for 50 Early Education class places to replace the existing Tannochside nursery class.
The physical education facilities within the new building and the on-site full size synthetic surface flood-lit pitch will be available for community use outwith school core times of operation. Other areas available to community organisations include the assembly hall/gym, dining and general purpose rooms. The Community Education Base from Tannochside Primary is to be included in the accommodation plan.
The proposed site for the new primary school is on the recreation ground adjacent to the existing Tannochside Primary School on Douglas Street.

The anticipated construction programme indicates site works starting in July 2005 with full services commencement for August 2006.
