The proposed new build project facility will accommodate a replacement of Stepps Primary School with a design capacity for 330 pupils. Early Education classes for 30 new places will also be accommodated within the new project.
The physical education facilities within the new building and the on-site pitch (7-a-side synthetic surface flood-lit pitch) will be available for community use. The Council have also proposed that a replacement of Stepps Public Library and Stepps Community Centre be integrated into the new project facility and will operate as a cultural centre and will be available for letting by community organisations.
The proposed site for the new Stepps Primary School and Cultural Centre is bounded by Cumbernauld Road to the south and by Blenheim Avenue to the west. Public consultation indicated a strong preference for the placement of this new school to be as far west on the site as possible. Stepps Primary School is currently located at School Road with the public library located on the school campus. Stepps Community Centre is situated on Cardowan Drive.

The anticipated construction programme indicates site works commencing in June 2006 with full services commencement anticipated for August 2007.
