The Council proposes a new build primary joint campus sensitively designed to retain the identity and ethos of each school (St Ignatius and Wishaw Academy Primary) but sharing some facilities. The design capacity is projected at 220 for St Ignatius Primary and 320 for Wishaw Academy Primary. In addition 50 new Early Education places will be provided in the new accommodation.
The physical education facilities within the new building and the on-site pitch (full-size floodlit synthetic surface) will be available for community use outwith school core times. Another area to be made available for community organisations to use is the assembly/gym, dining and general purpose room.
The proposed site for the primary joint campus is the unoccupied site of Houldsworth Park in Wishaw. This is bounded by Kirk Road and Campbell Street.
