The Council proposes a replacement for Clarkston Primary School with a design capacity for 300 pupils. In addition to primary accommodation, 30 new places for Early Education classes will be provided.
The physical educaton facilities within the building and the on-site pitch (7-a-side synthetic surface with floodlighting) will be available for community use. Additionally the assembly hall/gym, dining/general purpose and other community areas will be available to the community outwith education core times of operation.
The proposed site for the new Clarkston Primary School is on a greenfield site adjacent to the Boot's factory. The current primary school is located in Forest Street in Clarkston towards the east end of Airdrie.
The indicative construction programme indicates site works commencing June 2006 with full services commencement anticipated for August 2007.
