Playgroups: Support & Assistance

Playgroups and Mother & Toddler Groups are usually non profit making and managed by volunteers, often including parents. Many parents are also involved in the activities playgroups provide for children. In the case of Mother & Toddler Groups, parents or guardians must be in attendance at all times. At playgroups there must be at least one adult for every eight children and at least half of the adults must be qualified leaders or assistants.

We can assist you in many ways to find out more about existing pre-school playgroup provision in North Lanarkshire. Many of our community facilities host playgroups and mother and toddler classes and should you wish to know where these sessions take place, please contact the Community Centres Section, using the "Contact Us" box at the right hand side of your screen.  Alternatively, click on the Voluntary Organisations Database and search for established mother & toddler organisations or playgroups.

If you wish to set up your own playgroup or mother and toddler group, click on How to Start Your Group for some helpful advice and guidance.  We can also assist in grants and funding, should you require it, for your existing or new group.
