Older people

The Social Work Department recognise that most older people lead active, independant lives, caring for themselves and sometimes for others too.  Some older people do need care supports and for those, our aim is to help them live independant lives in their own homes and communities.

Services are tailored to meet people's individual needs, based on a Community Care Assessment.  Some people may need help coping at home, because they may gradually have become frail, may live alone, have been in hospital or have problems with mobility, sight or hearing.  Others may be experiencing mental health problems, have dementia or failing mental abilities.
