An independent inquiry has been commissioned by the Scottish Government following closure of Kerelaw Residential School and Secure Unit in 2006.
Local authorities have been asked to make contact with former residents of Kerelaw to make them aware of the inquiry and its terms of reference.

My purpose in writing to you is to make you aware that the Scottish Government has commissioned an independent inquiry following the closure of Kerelaw Residential School and Secure Unit.
Local authorities have now been asked to make contact with young adults who spent time at Kerelaw Residential School and Secure Unit to ensure that they are aware of the purpose of the inquiry.
I understand from our Departmental records that, as a young person, you spent some time in either or both of these establishments.
For your information, the attached documentation confirms contact details, the terms of reference of the Inquiry and their Data Protection Policy.
