Foot and Mouth Contingency Plan

15/10/2007

You may be aware of the Foot and Mouth outbreak that occurred in the south of England on September 12 2007, and of the potential dreadful consequences to the Scottish farming industry, if it were to spread further.

In our effort to minimise the potential for the spread of the virus to or from farm property, alterations were made to the normal refuse collection procedures to farm premises.

In effect, no refuse collection vehicles entered onto the roads leading to any farm properties.

The restrictions which were put in place on 12 September 2007, as a containment measure, have now been relaxed and refuse collection to the farm properties affected will now return to normal.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during these uncertain times.
