Planning Applications - Making Representations

For most type of planning application, the applicant is required to serve a formal neighbour notification notice on owners and occupiers of neighbouring property. This notice advises of the nature and location of the proposal, and how and when representation can be made.

In addition, certain types of planning application, such as for bad neighbour development, for Listed Building or Conservation Area Consent, for Hazardous Substances Consent, for departures from the Development Plan or those involving the submission of an Environmental Impact Assessment, require to be advertised in the local press, and details of how and when to make representations are included in the advert.

Anyone can make representation, either objecting to or supporting an application, by writing to the Head of Planning and Development at the local area office, using the "Contact Us" box at the top right hand side of your screen. This should be submitted within the period indicated, which is 14 days in the case of neighbour notification and 14 or 21 days as advertised. All representations will be acknowledged in writing.

Valid representations will be taken into account when the application is considered by the Council and the person who made the representations will be notified of the Council's decision.

For further information on making a representation please contact the local area office.
