About Building Standards

Our aim is to ensure that buildings in North Lanarkshire comply with building regulations. We do this by processing building warrant applications, inspecting building works and verifying submitted completion certificates.

Building Standards also:

·        inspect and assess Dangerous Buildings, and provide an out of office hours emergency call out service

·        provide a Building Standards Enquiry system including a search and copy document service that can be used during property transactions

·        provide the street naming and numbering service for North Lanarkshire Council

·        undertake licensing inspections of public houses, places of public entertainment, football stadia and houses in multiple occupation

In addition, we offer general advice on a range of construction projects from minor domestic alterations to large-scale commercial projects. If you wish to discuss your proposal prior to preparing a Building Warrant submission then please contact us to arrange a pre-warrant discussion with one of our Building Standards Teams.
